Squirtle returns for a Pokémon GO Community Day Classic makeup event on July 23rd

As a result of technical issues impacting Trainers with Pokémon Trainer Club accounts during July 9th's Pokémon GO Community Day Classic event,

Niantic has announced that a special global makeup event will be running this weekend on July 23rd, between 2:00pm and 5:00pm local time. During this period, Squirtle will once again be appearing more frequently in the wild, with its Shiny variant also being available to be encountered.

Community Day exclusive Field Research will be available during the event, awarding an encounter with a Squirtle wearing sunglasses, with this encounter rarely being a Shiny variant. A Community Day Special Research Story: Squirtle Community Day Classic, will also be available for purchase at US$1.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in each local currency). This Special Research can also be gifted to any friend with a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher. Trainers who purchased this Special Research Story for the original Pokémon Community Day Classic event earlier this month will not automatically have access to the Special Research Story again, and will instead be able to purchase an identical version of the Special Research Story.

During the event, Trainers will be able to receive event-themed stickers by spinning PokéStops and opening Gifts. These strickers will also be available for purchase from the in-game shop.

The following event bonuses will also be active throughout 3-hour period:

• 1/4 Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in an Incubator
• Incense (except Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours
• Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours
• Trainers can receive a special surprise by taking a few in-game snapshots during the event period

Additionally, Wartortle that are evolved into Blastoise between 2:00pm and 7:00pm local time on the day of the Community Day Classic will learn the Charged Attack Hydro Cannon. This move has 80 power in Trainer Battles, with an Energy cost of 40. In Gyms and in Raids, the Charged Attack has 90 power, with an Energy cost of 50, Duration of 1.9 seconds, and Damage window of 0.5-1.6 seconds.
