Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa announces Switch successor, reveal to occur before March 2025 — Nintendo Direct also announced for June.

Shuntaro Furukawa, the current President of Nintendo, has announced in a post on the official @NintendoCoLtd account on X (formerly Twitter) that a successor to the Nintendo Switch will be revealed within the Japanese fiscal year, meaning the new console will be officially unveiled sometime before March 2025. There have long been rumors and speculation about the so-called Switch 2, but this is the first official word from Nintendo of the new console. No other information has been given about the new console as of the time of writing.

In the same post, a Nintendo Direct presentation was announced for June which will focus on games releasing for the Switch from July to December of 2024. However, it was stated that the Switch successor will not be revealed during this Direct.
