Tune In With Chewie and GameChops release Poké Emo, a new album of licensed Pokémon music covers in the style of early-2000s emo and alternative rock

The folks over at the independent video game record label GameChops have announced the release of Poké Emo, the latest work of multi-instrumentalist and sound designer Nestor Estrada, a.k.a. Tune In With Chewie. This album features heartfelt guitar performances of classic Pokémon music arranged in the style of early-2000s emo and alternative rock.

This 17 track album features tracks from the first through eighth generations of the Pokémon games, with a collection of remixed tracks of music originally composed by Pokémon music luminaries Junichi Masuda, Gō Ichinose, Hitomi Satō, Shota Kageyama, and Morikazu Aoki.

Poké Emo is available now for streaming via Spotify, and will premiere free streaming on YouTube within an hour of this story going up. The album will also be available via Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music.

Nestor Estrada, a.k.a. Tune In With Chewie is a music producer and composer who creates original covers of gaming songs in his free time outside of his regular day job at music software company Output. He made his GameChops debut in 2023 with the Metroid inspired Lower Brinstar in 2021, has since then created albums covering music from Metroid, The Legend of Zelda, Dark Souls, Sonic, Destiny, and Super Mario. These albums can be streamed in their entirety for free via GameChops YouTube channel. Poké Emo is their first Pokémon focused work.

GameChops is a record label dedicated to video game music. Founded by Chris Davidson (Dj Cutman) in 2012, GameChops was one of the first record labels to license and publish video game music on platforms like iTunes and Spotify. All GameChops remix albums and singles are licensed and offered for use under Creative Commons, allowing for their use in non-profit remixes, streams, videos, podcasts, and other projects for free when accompanied with credits to the musician and links back to the GameChops website.
