Shuntaro Furukawa confirms Nintendo Switch successor will be backwards compatible with Nintendo Switch software and Nintendo Switch Online

As part of Nintendo's presentation today of its Second Quarter Financial Results and Corporate Management Policy Briefing, Shuntaro Furukawa, the current President of Nintendo, confirmed that the Nintendo Switch successor will feature backwards compatibility with Nintendo Switch software. Nintendo Switch Online will also remain available on the new console.

Great news! Backwards compatibility is without a doubt one of the most important features that plays into my decision whether to get a next gen console or not.
 
but how will save data work for it? especially with pokemmon games, or will they figure something out for that? Like perhaps save data connecting to your Nintendo Account?
