The name of the new region has not yet been revealed, but it is confirmed to be open world, as Scarlet and Violet was, and seems to be made up of open ocean, beaches, and jungles. Other environments shown off in the trailer include a volcanic area, a swamp, and a large windmill structure built in the water. Lots of known Pokémon appeared in the trailer, though not any new ones beyond the first partners. Wailord features prominently, helping to show off the presumably explorable underwater portions of the game.
The player characters for Pokémon Winds and Waves are not yet named, but they are dressed slightly differently based on which version of the game they are in. Pokémon Winds has the male and female characters in white backpacks with safari-style hats, and Pokémon Waves gives them blue backpacks with baseball caps. Both carry large tools reminiscent of a Nintendo Switch 2.
The starter Pokémon for Pokémon Winds and Waves are Browt, the Bean Chick Pokémon, Pombon, the Puppy Pokémon, and Gecqua, the Water Gecko Pokémon. Their Types, sizes, and Abilities have all been revealed as well. Two special Pikachu characters have also been introduced, Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu, dressed in tropical attire. Their exact roles in the game have not been revealed, though they seem to be greeting the player character at their door in the trailer.
Starting with this release, The Pokémon Company International has also confirmed that Brazilian Portuguese will now be a supported language players can select.
