Continuing the company's recent trend of shadowdrops out of nowhere, Nintendo today has announced and released their new Nintendo Music app for smart devices, exclusively for active Nintendo Switch Online members.

Example of the app running on an 8th iPad running iPadOS 17.7, showing the large black bars on either side of the interface. In the bottom right hand corner can be seen in-app buttons to unzoom the app, or to force it to a rotated perspective on the portrait screen.
The app is currently available for download for Apple devices via the App Store, and for Android devices via Google Play. We do note however that while the app can be used on any smart device using either operating system, presently it does appear to be intended more for phones. For example, the interface on iPad is somewhat awkward, with large black bars on each side of the screen.

The Nintendo Music app includes a wide variety of tracks from a host of Nintendo franchises, including Pokémon. At launch, the only Pokémon tracks thusfar are from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, however Nintendo has promised that more games will be added to the selection in the future.

In addition to streaming songs, users can also download their top tracks for listening anywhere even without an internet connection. Some songs offer the option to extend the tracks for up to 60 minutes, or to have them endlessly loop.

One unique feature of the app is the ability to hide soundtracks from particular games for "spoiler prevention", for players who are concerned about ruining their enjoyment of fun surprises and story beats.
