New Jirachi ex card from the upcoming 30th Celebration expansion unveiled in celebration of Tanabata

In celebration of the Japanese festival of Tanabata, also known as the Star Festival, official social media accounts for the Pokémon Trading Card Game have today revealed a new Jirachi ex card from the game's upcoming anniversary expansion, 30th Celebration. 30th Celebration will release simultaneously worldwide later this year on September 16th.

Tanabata is a Japanese festival originating from the Chinese Qixi Festival. It celebrates the meeting of the deities Orihime (represented by the star Vega) and Hikoboshi (represented by Altair), who according to legend are only allowed to meet once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, with festivities in Japan beginning each year on July 7th. Pokémon has frequently celebrated this festival with merchandise and giveaways related to Jirachi, including event distributions for the Pokémon video games going back to Gen III in 2004.
