Introduction
I finally felt like sharing my journal pages for my Legends: Z-A playthrough! I actually started playing on release in October, and have been journaling my playthrough of the base game and DLC since then. I finally got the time to start typing up my journal entries to share them here! :enzap:

Last time in my Y playthrough, I made the pages and everything for the journal, and I had several goals that I wanted to accomplish. Going in to Legends: Z-A, I was as spoiler-free as possible and wanted to have a more laid-back gaming (and journaling) experience. I actually didn't know how I would accomplish this until I was at Gamestop picking up my copy of the game, where I found the perfect journal to log my Lumiose adventure!

I love the food-themed design, it's perfect for Lumiose City's many cafés. Expect less drawings in this playthrough and more printed screenshots - I was more focused on playing the game itself than drawing every aspect I encountered. I did, however, draw my "main 6" that I used throughout my playthrough as they grew and changed together. I will mark these as "team portraits." I also created a new team for the DLC.

I adored this game and my team members and I'm excited to share my journey through Lumiose City :bulbaLove: I'll be posting my Lumiose Logs in batches as I get a chance to type them up.

Lumiose Logs 1-5 New
Lumiose Log 1
I arrived by train in Lumiose City and was met with a lively city full of people and pokemon. Outside the station I met Urbain, who tried to film me but was interrupted by a billboard advertisement. The ad was promoting an urban redevelopment plan for the city using holotech created by Quasartico, Inc. While we were distracted, a pancham stole my bag! Urbain gave me a chikorita to stop the thief - which we did with a pokemon battle.
Chikorita’s Name: Willow
Gender: Male
Nature: Hardy
Takes plenty of siestas ~

As we made our way through the city, we had to travel through the battle zone. Willow and I got more battle practice, but we were overwhelmed by too many trainers. Luckily, a Floette arrived and scared away the trainers with its Light of Ruin.
Finally we got to Hotel Z - owned by AZ. He told me I’m now a pokemon trainer - and urged me to never betray my pokemon’s faith. We settled into our room for the night, ending our first day in Lumiose City!

Lumiose Log 2
First thing this morning, I got a notification to join the Battle League. If I go from rank Z to A, I will be granted a wish. Urbain invited me to join his battle team, MZ. I of course accepted.
I met another team MZ member, Lida. Then I headed to the closest wild area. Urbain showed me how to catch wild pokemon, and Willow and I got to work! I caught five new pokemon and then headed to the Pokemon Research Lab to get my reward.
In the lab I met Mable - the acting director of the lab.
J2.jpg
She asked me for help surveying pokemon distributions in the wild zones. She also rewarded me with the T.M. for rock smash.
Outside the lab I met another member of Team MZ - who gave me a hat. His name is Naveen.
While resting at the hotel, I learned I had earned a promotion match. I needed to get a Challenger’s Ticket to compete, though. We headed out to a battle zone, where I battled three trainers and earned my ticket. I found my promotion match - Zach the taxi driver. Willow and I beat him and ranked up!
After the battle, we met Emma - the top detective in Lumiose City. Then we headed back to the hotel and Urbain made us dinner with Lumiose’s croissants and Galar’s curry.

Lumiose Log 3

As we left the hotel at the start of our day we ran into Terragon from Racine Construction. He told us about the scaffolding…
J3.jpg
… they make into obstacle courses. They even leave colorful screws that can be redeemed for prizes. Urbain then showed me some Mega Crystals that can be broken with rock smash, leaving behind Mega Shards. Urbain and I proceeded to Prism Tower for coffee, where I met Vinnie, who is overseeing construction on the tower.
I wanted to check out more of the wild zones, but was stopped by Ivor of the Fist of Justice. They are against confining pokemon in the wild zones. I beat Josee, a lesser member of the group. Willow is starting to get so strong - he is so adorable in battle.
We finally made it to the Looker Bureau, where Emma (and Mimi) work. She asked for help solving problems for Lumiose citizens - starting with three introductory side quests. First we found a missing ring in a cemetery, stolen by a cute little sableye. Second, we traded a pikachcu for a heracross so someone could use a thunder stone. Third, we battled an alpha bunnelby loose in the city. This battle was pretty tough - it took some training between to beat it. After finishing these quests, we …
J5.jpg
… battled Emma and she showed us her mega ampharos.
We did a little more training in the wild areas, catching all the pokemon we could find. Willow evolved into a bayleef!
We battled more trainers in the battle zone and earned a Challenger Ticket for our next ranked battled. We battled Yvon and ranked up to rank X!
J7.jpg

Lumiose Log 4
We started the day by battling Naveen and learning about his start in Lumiose City. Then we got coffee - Willow and I shared a cup!
Most of our day was spent looking for rare pokemon spawns in the wild zones. We did manage to make it to the battle zone at night, earning another Challenger Ticket. We finished the night by battling Xavi - getting me to rank W!

Lumiose Log 5
We chatted briefly with Lida on our way out of the hotel. She left for dance practice, but forgot her stuff. AZ suggested I bring Lida her stuff.
J6.jpg
When I found her, she challenged me to a pokemon battle. Willow had no issue against her water types. I wonder where she got her staryu, and will there be a mega form for starmie?
Next I went to the Pokemon Research Lab where Mable offered me a pokemon of my choice - bulbasaur, charmander, or squirtle. I chose squirtle!
Current team:
Willow the bayleef. Level 22, Male, Hardy.
Ruby the litleo. Level 21, Female, Timid
Nimbus the swablu. Level 20, Female, Hardy.
Twinkle the ralts. Level 18, Female, Docile. From mystery gift!
Midnight the ekans. Level 19, Male, Careful.
Ocean the binacle. Level 18, Female, Timid.
Nevada the hippopotas. Level 20, Female, brave.

@lumineonite ,
These are amazing! I wish my Legends Arceus Journal could be as crafty as your Journals have been. I very much like your style. I wish you the best of luck. Are these recap from October or is it a new official Playthrough?
Big fan!
Thank you so much! It is from last October.

Interlude: Return of the Lumiose Logs New
Hello everyone!

I've been away for a while, but I'm planning on continuing to post my Lumiose Logs. I took a bit of a break from everything after a difficult late 2025-early 2026. I thought I would give a little update to where I've been before I start posting as if there isn't a four month gap between the first batch of Lumiose Logs with the next :bulbaWave:

I played through the base game of Legends Z-A in late 2025, right when it released. I created this journal as I was playing, so I have the entires finished, the only additional work I do for these posts is typing up the entries to make them more easily readable.

I had the intent to post them in early 2026, but ended up losing my job last December. I think "lost" is a nice way to put it, really my job was destroyed in the effort to eliminate science as a whole in the US right now. If any of you have been following the job market, it is also one of the worst times to be looking for a job - this all ended up making life in general just too difficult to make time for pokemon. I posted the first batch of logs in February, but haven't been on here much since then.

In March, I ended up finding a new position in my field, but it required a very long commute, I spend 2.5 hours every day just driving to and from work. Going from a work from home lifestyle to this kind of in-person job so far away from my home was a pretty difficult adjustment.

The weekend before I started my position, I found a little porygon figurine on sale. I bought him and decided he would be my new pokemon companion on my desk at work.
Porygon.webp

I decided to name him Cubicle, a fitting name for a porygon that lives in an office setting I think! :bulbaLove: I didn't know it at the time, but this porygon would be the reason I would hang on to my love of pokemon, even with pretty much no time left to play it.

As my job progressed, I started to adjust. Every day I would admire Cubicle the porygon, and know I would return to the pokemon world soon. I started carrying my pokewalker again and would bring pokemon from the games so they could visit Cubicle.

I've been granted a more flexible schedule now, and have been diving back in to my hobbies in general. I am currently shiny hunting the legendaries at the end of the Z-A DLC! I am going to post batches of my journal entries here again, and will be catching up with the posts everyone has been making in my absence. It's good to see you all again!

I visited the Lumiose Museum. There are many beautiful paintings in the museum highlighting the history of Kalos. There is also an entire exhibit on the history of the Hisui region. I loved getting a glimpse of the past - pokemon trainers used to craft their own pokeballs with materials they found in the wild. While exploring the museum, I found some missing spewpa hidden throughout the exhibits. I ended up taking one spewpa home with me - and evolved it into a beautiful blue vivillon.

Lumiose Log 7
I started the day with a couple quests to help Lumiose residents - one that wanted to see a shiny mareep (which I got to catch!) and one quest to provide a budew for a dance contest. Then I did some battling in the battle zone, earning a Challenger's Ticket. I challenged Rintaro at his restaurant and managed to beat his team pretty easily. This let me rank up to Rank V!
After ranking up, I got a call from Emma about a black, four-legged pokemon in my area. This turned...

... out to by Zygarde in its 10% Forme!
I chased it down and it pointed me to a rooftop with a rogue mega absol. Emma's lucario teamed up with me and we defeated the absol.
Afterwards, the absol joined my team as a thanks for rescuing it from the pain it was in. We also got an absolite.
Urbain says they're been working to protect Lumiose from rogue mega evolution.

Lumiose Log 8
Apparently Magenta and Juane Plaza were turned into wild zones. We headed to these new zones immediately to see the new pokemon.
Then I did some shopping - Lumiose City has the best fashion. I spent nearly all my money - but did manage to make myself look much cooler.
Urbain and I went to meet Vinnie, who told us his team needs more help stopping the rogue mega evolutions happening in the city.
LL8.webp
Vinnie changed our next promotion match to be against him - as a way to see if we are ready to fight the rogue mega pokemon.
I did some more side quests - one needed help getting coffee with their slurpluff, another needed pansage, panpour, and pansear to make a special coffee.
I've been enjoying all the cafes around Lumiose City. Getting coffee/tea with my pokemon is a great bonding experience. Here is a snapshot of me getting coffee with my electrike, Petunia.

Lumiose Log 9
I have been spending time in the battle zone leveling up many pokemon. I earned my challenger ticket and decided on this team to fight Vinnie:
Ocean the binacle
Willow the bayleef
Nimbus the swablu
Elegant the absol
Ruby the litleo
Midnight the arbok
The fight was pretty challenging, I wasn't expecting him to have a mega drampa. Such a beautiful pokemon! Urban also won, and we both jumped all the way up to Rank F!
LL9.webp
LL9-F.webp
Vinnie asked us to help stop the rogue mega pokemon - they are trying to keep the people of Lumiose from finding out about the danger. This makes sense, I suppose, I heard someone in Lumiose say a lot of people left the city after an incident five years ago. For the last two years, Quasartico Inc. has been working to stop this problem, after AZ urged Vinnie to do so. For a while, AZ and his floette were fighting them on their own. They don't know why mega energy is accumulating in Lumiose City like this.
I traded some mega shards for mega stones at the desk in Quasartico, Inc. Then Urbain and I headed outside, where Naveen was eating at a cafe. He told me my next promotion match is against the streamer Canari. Naveen is a big fan, but not a member of her fan club DYN4MO.
Back at Hotel Z we had a strategy meeting for the next mega pokemon, and Naveen showed off the Team MZ flag he made.
