Academy Event: Art Agony, Teacher’s Tears
In this new Academy Event running through to February 2nd, at 9:59pm (PST), Kris joins in on Hassel's art class, which Brassius has just been invited to join as a special guest.

In Academy Events, players will team up with an Academy Sync Pair, who initially only knows a single move. All Academy Sync Pairs will be released starting at Lv. 140, with the ability to be raised to 6★ EX, and the ability to unlock an EX Role. Over the course of the event, as players battle and interact with other Trainers at the Pasio Academy, they will acquire exclusive Sync Orbs and TM Orbs to upgrade and customize their Academy Sync Pair with different Passive Skills and moves. The amount of items that players can acquire is limited, so players will need to think long and hard about exactly what kind of Sync Pair you want to raise their Academy Sync Pair to be. If you get it wrong or want to try out another combination though, there's no stress! Players are free to can complete and replay each Academy Event as many times as they like over the course of the event until they get the Sync Pair of their dreams, however every time the event is restarted the Academy Sync Pair's upgrades will also be reset. Each time the event is fully completed, players will receive 4× Academy Sync Pair Custom ★ Power-Ups for the event's featured Sync Pair, with any excess able to be traded in the exchange. Each Academy Event will also include a set of exclusive stories, which appear at random, giving players another incentive to repeat the event if they've not yet managed to unlock every single one.

Each Academy Event will run over 12 rounds, with midterm exams being held in round 6, and a final exam in round 12. Regardless of if players pass or fail the exam, the event will continue.

During your Academy Experience, Academy Sync Pairs will have a special In-Training Sync Grid. After completing the Final Exam, players will be able to select the Sync Grid they'd like to retain as their completed grid for the Sync Pair, which will then apply from then on when the pair is used outside the Academy Event.

The featured Sync Pair for this latest Academy Event is 5★ Kris (Academy) & Igglybuff. All players will unlock Kris (Academy) & Igglybuff along with 400 gems immediately after completing the opening cutscene of the event.

Similar to regular Story Events, players will receive an increased amount of bonus rewards if they take on event battles using teams that feature specific sync pairs. The more of these sync pairs that players place in their lineup, the greater the bonus received. The applicable Sync Pairs and reward rates for this event are as follows:
These bonuses stack additively, so having a team consisting of Kris (Academy) & Igglybuff, and any two other Paldea and Johto sync pairs would grant a combined +70% (×1.7) rewards.

Players should also note the following when playing this event:
  • To participate, unlock Kris (Academy) & Igglybuff's 6★ EX status, or unlock Kris (Academy) & Igglybuff's EX Role, players must have completed Main Story Chapter 1: The More the Merrier (Normal) in single-player.
  • The sync pairs that appear as opponents in battle have different capabilities than those players can actually obtain.

EX Fair Scouts are effectively the Poké Fair equivalent of the recent EX Master Fair Scouts, with an offering rate of 2% for the featured EX Master Sync Pair, 1% for additional featured 5★ Fair-Exclusive Sync Pairs (0.5% each), and 10% for other 5★ Sync Pairs, which may include other Fair-Exclusive Sync Pairs. Like with normal Poké Fair Scouts, EX Fair Scouts require 400 scout points before players are able to get a free selection of any one Sync Pair available in the Scout.

The two Fair-Exclusive Sync Pairs who will join Brassius & Sudowoodo in the Brassius EX Fair are Sygna Suit Acerola & Tapu Bulu, and Victor & Rillaboom. Joining Hassel & Baxcalibur in the Hassel EX Fair Scout meanwhile are Sygna Suit Cynthia & Kommo-o, and Lucas & Dialga.

The two EX Fair scouts each include daily discounts, where players can perform a single scout for ×100 paid gems. This daily discount can be used 1 time per day during the entire length of the scout. The first twelve times players perform a Sync Pair Scout ×11 for the Hassel and Brassius EX Fairs, they will also receive the following respective bonus presents:
  • 1st-4th Scout: Tech/Field Support Move Candy Coin ×1
  • 5th Scout: Superawakening Candy ×1
  • 6th-9th Scout: Tech/Field Move Candy Coin ×2
  • 10th Scout: Superawakening Candy ×1
  • 11th-12th Scout: Tech/Field Move Candy Coin ×2
In addition, players who team up with Brassius & Sudowoodo or Hassel & Baxcalibur in these scout will also receive Sprint/Strike Roll Cake ×4 and 5★ Power-Up ×4 each time they scout the pair, up to 5 times.

Brassius & Sudowoodo are a 5★ Grass-type Tech Role Sync Pair with an unlockable Sprint EX Role. a Superawakening, and the ability to Sync Terastal. Raising them to 6★ EX Status changes their outfit from the normal burgundy top and black pants with a purple vine whip to a brown top and white pants with a green vine whip. Brassius & Sudowoodo are designed to significantly debuff opponents to make things easier for your Grass or Rock-type physical attackers. Their Add Some Color! Passive Skill will turn the field of play into a Grassy Terrain or Rock Zone the first time they use a Grass or Rock-type move, as well as lowering the opponent's Grass Type or Rock Type Rebuff by one. Using their Sync Move lowers the Grass and Rock Type Rebuffs of all opposing sync pairs by an additional rank. Their Dioptase Tera Blast Terastal Move hits all opponents with an automatic critical hit that also lowers their Defense by one statt rank, and together with their Hit: Team-Synced Stat ↓ Twice 9 Passive Skill will also inflict two additional one stat rank debuffs to targets Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, Speed, accuracy, or evasiveness by at random.

Hassel & Baxcalibur are a 5★ Dragon-type Field Role Sync Pair with an unlockable Strike (Physical) EX Role and a Superawakening. Raising them to 6★ EX Status unlocks a new song for the Jukebox, and changes their outfit from the normal teal jacket over a dark grey and crimson vest, to a blue-green vest over a crimson and light blue vest. Despite an entirely different set of roles, Hassel & Baxcalibur function in a similar way to Brassius & Sudowoodo in that they are designed to debuff opponents while boosting their own side's Dragon-type attacks. Their Move on Opp: Team-Synced Stat ↓2 9 Passive Skill lowers one of an opponent's Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, Speed, accuracy, or evasiveness by two stat ranks at random every time Hassel & Baxcalibur succesfully target them with a move. Between their Breaking Swipe and Leer moves, this means opponents will be steadily having their stats reduced the entire match.

Gym Emotes
Special Gems with Gym Emotes offers are available from the in-game shop, allowing players to obtain Brassius and Hassel Gym Emotes as presents. These offers, which comes with 250 paid gems, can each be purchased under the With Emotes tab in the Purchase Gems menu of the in-game shop until February 2nd, at 9:59pm (PST).
